FERA 2019 Special Issue

We are pleased to announce the annual FERA conference Special Issue inspired by presentations of faculty, educators, and doctoral students at FERA 2019. Attendance was again at record highs and presenters shared a diverse array of provocative and high quality projects and studies. The aim of the annual Special Issue is to share presentations beyond the conference and its attendees. Please consider submitting your presentation for publication in our online journal:

Types of Submissions and Word Limits

We invite a variety of submissions of various length:

  • brief research reports, teacher inquiries, and commentaries (2,000–4,000 words)
  • full research articles (up to 8,000 words)

Word limits are inclusive of an abstract (150 words max), tables, figures, endnotes, and reference list.


Please use 12-point Times Roman typeface, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, and APA style.

Teacher Inquiry Section

We welcome submissions from presenters in our Teacher Inquiry Strand at FERA 2019. One author must be an educator. Please indicate in your cover letter/email that you wish to be included in the Teacher Inquiry Section so that we can select manuscript reviewers with appropriate experience.  

Review and Publication Timeline

All submissions will be peer-reviewed.

Feb 15th—Submissions due

March 15th to April 1st—Feedback to authors with requested revisions, if needed.

April 1st to May 15th—Revisions, multiple rounds if needed.

May 15th—Final submissions due

July 15th—Anticipated publication date
