The Lou Frey Institute at the University of Central Florida is recruiting a research analyst who will work on a variety of projects including the Partnership for Civic Learning. The Partnership works with the Florida Department of Education, school districts, and university researchers to develop and test school- and district-based continuous improvement programs in civic learning. This is a one-year position with the possibility of longer-term funding. Appointment as a post-doctoral fellow may be possible, as appropriate.
The Research Analyst will provide support to the Institute’s Lead Analyst and may also work independently on selected projects. Major roles include data collection and management, data analysis, and preparing and disseminating summary reports. The selected candidate will be detail oriented and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills; have experience in quantitative data analysis and familiarity with statistical analysis software (SPSS, SAS); have some experience working with Census Bureau data; excellent communication skills; and demonstrated skill in writing technical reports and papers. A working knowledge of Florida’s K-12 testing & accountability system is highly desirable. Some background social studies and civics is desirable, but not essential. Experience with qualitative field research design is also desirable, but not a requirement.
A Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization is strongly preferred.
